Touching on a topic relevant to nearly everyone, Rotarian and University of Florida Professor Emeritus Will Wardowski spoke at a recent Cashiers Rotary meeting about the leading threat to the worldwide citrus industry.

The Rotary Club of Cashiers Valley was thrilled to welcome the members of Blue Ridge School’s Interact Club who joined RCCV last week for breakfast and an update on their current projects. Interact is Rotary International’s service club for young people ages 12 to 18. Interact clubs are self-governing and self-supporting, but are sponsored by individual Rotary Clubs.
Our club was treated to a presentation by Ann Campbell and Rus Regnery of the Highlands Plateau Audubon Society (HPAS). Established in 1996 HPAS covers the Highlands, Cashiers, Glenville, Scaly Mountain and Franklin areas.
The Rotary Club of Cashiers Valley welcomed noted attorney Leonard F. Baer as guest speaker at its most recent breakfast meeting. Mr. Baer is an impassioned champion of elder rights, a member of the National Academy of Elder Law, and has testified before the Senate Subcommittee on Aging. He spoke to the club specifically about financial exploitation and other fraud committed against elderly people.
