David Stroud was the guest speaker on August 23rd at the weekly meeting of the Rotary Club of Cashiers Valley. Stroud shared recent highlights at the CHHS no-kill shelter, which included a record number of adoptions, and nearly 200 low-cost spay/neuters already in 2014 with the new mobile medical/rescue vehicle, the H.E.A.R.T. of North Carolina. Stroud also unveiled a sneak peek of a new proposed canine adoption center that will provide much-needed additional capacity to save more lives and find more forever homes.
When Nancy Temple began experiencing indigestion after lunch one day last fall, she never imagined she’d end the day fighting for her life. But that’s exactly what happened, as the supposed indigestion turned into heart failure and she was airlifted by helicopter to Mission Hospital in Asheville. The emergency responders of MAMA, or Mountain Area Medical Airlift, kept Nancy’s heart pumping throughout the entire journey.
