Program Recap - Aug. 06, 2014
The Rotary Club of Cashiers Valley was honored to host District 7670’s District Governor Gary Bray at their weekly meeting on Wednesday, August 6. Mr. Bray joined club members for breakfast before speaking to the group about his hopes and goals for the district under his tenure.
Mr. Bray’s talk focused on the roles both districts and district governors play as part of the larger Rotary International organization and stressed the flexibility district governors are given to define their time in office as they feel will be most instrumental. To that end, Mr. Bray has chosen to focus his full energies on offering guidance, help and assistance at the Club and member level. His goals include helping those in the district find the talent necessary to achieve their own service goals, and to help facilitate cooperation with other clubs or districts.
Mr. Bray also emphasized the importance of a truly hands-on commitment to service and thanked the Cashiers Rotary club for “leading by example” in this regard.
Mr. Bray is a graduate of Virginia Tech and a former captain in the US Air Force. He served as president of the Rotary Club of Mt. Dora, FL, and has been a member of the Rotary Club of Franklin since January 2006. Among many other distinctions, he has served as Community Service Director, Club and District Honor Air Chairman, and District 7670 Assistant Governor. He received the District Service Award for Distinguished Service as Honor Air Chairman in 2011.
The Rotary Club of Cashiers Valley meets every Wednesday morning at 7:30 a.m. at the Cashiers United Methodist Church on Hwy 10 S.
