Program Recap - March 5, 2014
Area attorney and shooting enthusiast Kim Coward and NRA Certified Firearms and North Carolina Concealed Carry Instructor Holly Boros presented an informative session about guns.
Kim Coward, who is an established attorney in Cashiers, captured audience attention when she introduced the program by saying, “I’m a girl and I own a gun.”
Coward is a member of the women’s shooting group called A Girl and a Gun Club that was founded by Boros. Advocating the NRA rules for safe gun handling is a top priority of the organization.
In addition the club hosts social gatherings and self defense workshops, including the upcoming “Refuse to be a Victim" program. Building confidence and self protection were given as the two major reasons why women are the fastest growing demographic in owning guns.
Boros also discussed licensure to be a concealed weapon carrier. She emphasized that laws are continually updated and vary from state-to-sate. It is the responsibility of the carrier to stay abreast of the updates and variations in the laws from state-to-state.
